More than anything, I'm genuinely interested in people and our human experiences. Our experiences are so diverse, I'll tailor therapy specifically to you in a way that will address your needs from an eclectic, holistic standpoint vs a "one size fits all" approach. I draw from several mindfulness based modalities.
In my own journey, what's helped me the most in my personal growth is curiosity. The more I lean in to my experiences, get curious (without judgement!) and take the time to see what's there (the pleasant and not-so-pleasant too...), I notice things automatically start to shift. This is exactly what we can do together on your journey towards healing.
I've learned so much about being mindful and taking time to slow down and observe what's present. If we to tune into our bodies and the "inner landscape," it's a wealth of information. When we lower the noise of our busy minds, we can receive the information which can lead to insight and freedom to make changes.
I often think of mindfulness like a tapestry. From a distance, a tapestry looks like a beautiful image. When we take the time to look closer, we can see how it's woven and the intricasies and fibers that create the picture--even what we may think are 'flaws' end up help to create something beautiful. Mindfulness allows us to nonjudmentally get curious about how the tapestry is woven and take a look at the patterns that may have been present for a long time, or developed recently.
We sometimes don't realize the stories that are held in our clenched fists or tight gut until we have the space to reflect and explore. Often we find that what's held there may be emotional pain that needs to be released or a realization of unsupportive thoughts and beliefs we've been conditioned by family or society to believe at a young age.
Mindfulness can give you the freedom in the present moment to bring acceptance to your story, healing wounds, and the courage to write the script moving from this moment forward. It's also a tool to appreciate the parts of you that may have had to develop unhelpful patterns and beliefs for survival, then freedom to let them go. Through this discovery, you have the capacity to heal wounds, grow and explore new ways of being in the world--right here in the present moment.
Ultimately, I'm here to support you and your journey towards understanding in any way that feels nourishing and right for you. I provide a gentle and authentic partnership to help you reach your goals through an experiential, interactive dialogue.
My clients often tell me I'm warm, approachable and relatable making therapy an experience that is both supportive and safe to move through challenges. At the end of the day, I deeply honor my clients and their experiences--it always touching for me to witness their inner wisdom emerge and innate ability to heal happen naturally.
In addition to my private practice, I currently provide individual therapy and teach Stress Wellness and Coping (CNSL 72) at Foothill College.
