Philosophy & Approach

My own healing journey has been an integral part of who I am as a therapist. I’m a lifelong learner, grower, and seeker of truth. I've learned about the therapeutic process from my formal education, my own deep personal work in therapy, and especially from my 20+ years working with clients what it means to truly be with, witness, and heal.

I don't take a traditional 'medical model' approach to therapy. I've learned thanks to neuroscience, life's experiences that cause distress activates our nervous system in ways that have protected us. Our system's response impacts our bodies in turn at times leaving us feeling agitated, anxious, depleted, down, overwhelmed, or maybe even shut down and stuck.

Distress happens when we're disconnected with the experience of our true nature and whole Self. Our feeling stuck prevents us from from truly living with joy, creativity, flow, gratitude, compassion, clarity, and connection.

When we befriend our bodies and nervous systems and find resolution to the stories and painful memories accompanying those responses, we learn we can move freely between system states feeling freedom, contentment, and peace. Often I've heard this described as coming home, or coming back to your true Self.

Clients often tell me I bring warmth, grounding, connection and humor--because therapy doesn't have to be serious all the time! I know this work makes a difference--you're so courageous for taking the first step. You're worth it!
